Type 3 Chi-Nu

The Type 3 Chi-Nu was a medium tank for the imperial Japanese army. The tank was weaker compared to every other major power at this time during the war.

The Chi-Nu had a Mitsubishi Type 100, 21.7 l, V-12 diesel engine. The tank was able to reach speeds of 38.3 km/h. The tank was able to cross trenches with a range of 2.5 m.

The Chi-Nu had amour of 12-50 mm hull and turret amour. The Chi-Nu also had a crew of 5, a driver, gunner, loader, commander, and radio operator. The Chi-Nu also had a 75mm Type 3 gun and a Type 97 7.7 mm machine-gun. Only 144-166 of the tank was produced.

Type 95 Ha-Go

The Type 95 Ha-Go was a light tank. This tank was a small light armored tank but could move quickly. The late war was outclassed by the Sherman 75s.

The Type 95 Ha-Go Mitsubishi 6-cylinder diesel engine. The top speed was 45 km/h (28 mph). It had a range of 250 km (400 mi). The tank had 1,100 – 2,375 produced during the war.

The Main: 37 mm Type 94 gun and Secondary: 2 x Type 91 6.5 mm machine guns were light but able to deal with infantry. The tank had armor of 6-12 mm. The tank had a crew of 3, a driver, gunner, and commander.


The Type 95 was crucial in many earlier Japanese victories, by mid-war, it had become obsolete. It proved incapable of threatening newer Allied tanks.
